Last night in front of a packed house at the Shaw Library on 7th and Rhode Island I had the pleasure of asking the Mayor Bowser about exploring enfranchisement by creating Douglass County, Maryland. She thought that nobody in Maryland would want her to be Governor. To which I asked, “Why not?” She also mentioned the referendum we had in DC. I pointed out that the referendum was akin to asking voters if the would like to win the lottery, then check here. It was a great back and forth and I really appreciated her energy although I thought her answers were technically lacking. Of course it is impossible to argue for 51st Statehood vs Douglass County, Maryland on the merits.
